Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 from February 27, 2010 to Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a small community that is located in the West Island, which is part of the Montreal island. In reality, the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel grew up in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. Her early ambition was to dance but a growth spurt meant that she outgrew her dance partners. She admitted in an article written by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. As I grew older than my male counterparts I stopped. In the case of Brugel it was the encouragement of a drama teacher from her high-school that led her to take up acting. The teacher encouraged her to audition for a part in the school's production. After a few auditions, she ended up as the lead in Anne of Green Gables. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. Since then, Brugel's been participating in numerous productions on big screens and smaller ones. Her most significant fame when she was offered the part as Rita of the acclaim-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian part of the cast on the show in the season 1 of the show and was only seen occasionally.
